Just for the sake of clarity, the Morgan Stanley analyst did not downgrade the stock yesterday. He reduced his estimates from 34 cents for the fiscal fourth quarter to 30 cents, bringing his full-year estimate to 82 cents from the previous 86 cents. His estimate for fiscal 2000 is now 95 cents vs. the previous estimate of $1.01.

The reduction in estimates reflects his modeling slower revenue growth because of the mix shift in revenue away from back office apps and client/server technology and toward e-commerce, customer relationship management, supply-chain management, etc. He simply pointed out that it will be difficult during this transition for the company to post a 65% revenue gain this quarter.
