Always good hearing from you, Anax. Come on back anytime. Kip remains frighteningly prescient with his trading predictions. He also raises good points regarding the underlying business model, but I still think this is a good long-term (but speculative) holding.
Anyway, I'm happily sitting here on my EGGS. Certainly hasn't been the best thing in my portfolio as of late (but see Ensco & Texas Instruments & Biomira (BIOM--check it out)), but since its forays into the 4's and 5's late last summer (thank you very much), Egghead is still up over 100%.
I got an @Home connection yesterday, and saw EGGS's sponsorship of the @Home shopping site right up there with Amazon. A tear came to my eye as I saw my little e-commerce site growing up (do you think I've become too emotionally attached?). Orban seems to have a good vision for putting Egghead in the right spots. Getting EGGS as a sponsor on @Home is big, since broadband access is the wave of the future for the Net.
As far as I know, Paul Allen is still holding. By my recollection, his holdings include ZDNet, Excite, @Home, Value America, and I'm sure some other "connected" companies that I am forgetting. I see Egghead as fitting well within this network, and I the common Paul Allen link forming connections between the different companies. I query whether Value America and Egghead might ever merge.
Good luck to all (even Kip and Anax when they are shorting).
Still holding . . . bc_mack |
