Chuck Philips, the analyst at Morgan Stanley, has generally been pretty good. I haven't seen him around lately, but he used to come to many of the user group events in NY and was also at the large scale user conferences. The point is, that he is an analyst who has been known to actually do some homework, go out and talk to the people using Oracle's software, see what their deployment and upgrade plans are, find out about problems they are having, see what's hot and what's not. It sure is a lot better than just looking for guidance from the company and reacting to the other analysts or looking at charts.

It sure sounds like the combination of mindless pronouncements on CNBC and misinterpretations of what Chuck actually changed in his analysis snowballed into a tale of woe that was completely unjustified.

It's nice to see that the FALSE rumors about Ray Lane's departure are back. I've also been hearing that the entire sales staff have their resumes out on the street!! And to think, we used to speculate about just how BIG the 4th quarter was going to be...

The market is down and Oracle has made up half of yesterday's loss already. Go figure!
