While I am playing shorter time frames, The 89 bar 1/2 the 180 cycle in fib numbers is the key MA for me. I would not short a stock above the 89. I might be trading off a 8 bar MA with a 7 bar lead.

The question was What must be in place to be long.

I usually use 89 with a 9 lead. I like the Times series and my variable MAs in MSWIN. But when caught in other programs I go to EMA.
