differently. The original deals with BestBuy and CompUSA put Apple on the meek & defenseless side—the retail chains were doing them a favor, right? Now with the iMac and Sears, however, Apple has a little bit of weight to throw around and they can feel secure in exacting certain demands on Sears that CompUSA/BestBuy would have laughed at. For instance, Apple needs to set mandatory training requirements to familiarize salespeople with Macs, the Mac OS, and all the wonderful things that can be done with them, and the iMacs special strong points.

I wonder how many people who order new Macs online (i.e., sight unseen), are previous Mac owners? I suspect this is a very large number, but I'm sure there are people out there who are buying a new Mac without ever having been given a sales pitch in person.

I wish there were more people like soup out there. How often do you find someone who's so knowledgeable about the Mac AND could sell a blood popsicle to a woman wearing white gloves?

I've often thought about taking a part-time night gig selling Macs at someplace like Best Buy or Sears. I wonder what it would be like to be out on the front lines....
