There is more to putting 20,000 items on a site that can be purchased and shipped directly to buyers scattered all across the USA in different zip codes, etc than may initially meet the eye. I am sure there were some issues about the search engine that arose after this project was started.

Too many people think that all this stuff just comes out of a box and works perfectly. Not with 20,000 items it doesn't. I still think their search engine does not really do what they intend it to do. In fact, it searches on the ENTIRE inventory description. Well, I think the people responsible for this never thought about the search engine that their provider would use.

There should perhaps be 2 levels of search capabilities. If someone is looking for "SADDLE", I am sure the marketing person did not think 300 line items might be displayed to the potential buyer. If the Header Description of an item is 40 characters, but there is an additional 500 characters of description or more, you definitely do not want to find a zillion items, 99% of which have nothing to do with "SADDLE", that somewhere deep in the secondary description includes the word "SADDLE".

I think they will get it working soon. But even if it takes a little longer, I really hope they do not set it up with active bugs in it.
I am sure they will figure it out. But it takes some time.

Sometimes the marketing people never wrote a line of code in their life other than for some mandatory course in college. Then they end up responsible for purchasing an integrated database and they tend to buy something more by price than functionality. I am not saying that happened here, but subtle search engine capabilities are very crucial to a larger system.

I think the speed of their system could be faster too.
