MM,
I have lurked here for some time and have decided to understand if your bashing of CSCO in the "core" switch area is because of Lucent's (formerly AT&T Network Systems) 10 year plus struggle to produce a product in this area (Datakit, BNS-2000, GCNS-2000, etc).
As some who is both an evaluator and buyer of technology (besides being an investor), I have reviewed the product offerings from all the player with respect to features/functions, price/performance and architcetural fit. The CSCO MGX is the leading product at this time in this area, and since most people are buying at the edge, the need for the core switch from most people's perspective is a 2000 issue and CSCO will have Jupiter available by then.
Additionally, this is not about ATM switching, it is about IP+ATM in order to position for MPLS (which I assume you know what the acronym stands for), which will drive service revenue for carriers in the converged network of the Future (12-18 months).
If you can discuss this with facts, not merely anti-CSCO rhetoric, please feel free to respond, otherwise I will not be insulted if you just go away.
