98% of American households have a TV. 38% have 2, 40% have three. This means that there are somewhere north of 154 million sets in US households alone. There are a further 200,000 schools, universities and colleges with an average of 10 sets per site = 2 million sets. There are 12 million businesses, each with an average of two sets per business = 24 million sets. Add the churches, etc, etc and you will find somewhere near 200 million TV's just south of us.

There are 5 billion people in the world. There are 1 billion households. 1/2 of those have a TV. 1/3 of the 1/2 have two or more TV's.

TV's are replaced every 10 years. This means that household purchases should be around 64 million TV's every year.

Add 1/3 for business, school and other applcations. This gives us 90 million TV's manufactured every year.

If Sharpe has 5% market share, that is 4.5 million manufactured in a year.

Just a bit of useless calculation, but I have got to think that there is a pretty substantial market out there.

About time!
