If we are going to try and see a positive side to this the argument would probably be cash.

GBLX has a lot of nice R&D going on but many of the projects will not produce cash until some time in the future. I think GBLX needs a cash cow to fuel the growth they want to undertake. Owning a ROBC is a license to print money. You have a steady stream of cash from your monopoly. True, T may someday challenge with cable-phone and someday the sun will explode and we will all fry - but GBLX needs cash now. Also note that there are 50,000 DSL subscribers in this deal and the territory is very rural. DSL is inferior to cable but you got to get the cable to farmer Jones first. USW will be a dependable cash cow for some time.

Maybe Bob A. thinks he can separate the CEOs into different boxes and make it work that way.

Let's see....It is the first boardroom meeting, I am the CEO of USW and we are going to decide how to divide up my cash. Hummm...

As CEO of USW I have to tell you that our expenses have just gone up quite a bit so you are not going to get the cash you expected. Also, before I turn over any cash there are some expansions I want to make at USW and I will fight for the money.......
