How far south would you be referring to??

I've been in places where the only way you can get there is by helicopters landing in a chopped out landing zone hewn out of the triple canopy jungle.

I've seen people hacking each other with machetes, living in constant fear of Communist FARC rebels crossing into their villages from Colombia (which they have now done since I was there in 1994), and eeking out a living the best that they can since their gov't in Panama City could have given a rat's @ss about them.

I watched one of our Special Forces Medics attempt to sew, without benefit of other than a local anesthesia, the severed thumbnail and surrounding flesh, of a little 6-year old girl who had sliced it off cutting coconuts with a machete. (It didn't take, but we at least tried).

This medic and I would go around doing what we could for anyone who became injured in these villages (where an untreated cut can mean a jungle infection and death).

So tell me, where have you been lately????
