Richard,

>> For your modem question, that's tough. The courier v.everything modems are quite nice, but extremely extensive. I would definitely examine your uses first. Why do you need the voice capabilities? What applications do you plan to use it with...that type of stuff.<<

I was interested in the Courier only because I had seen comments on SI that it was such a superior piece of equipment, with improved connections, etc. I had thought before that a modem was a modem.

I also wanted to get an external modem to free up slots.

Voice capabilities: For internet telephony. It's coming. Does your modem need voice and full-duplex to do this or can your sound card substitute?

>>Yep. I've been toying with it at home and work. Two+ systems running a tiny network. One small hub, one 56k v.90 modem or a cable modem. Simple modem sharing software like Wingate or my Sygate (personal favourite). Takes about two minutes to setup.<<

Of course! I had always thought in terms of my cable modem with respect to Sygate. Didn't occur to me it would work with a dialup modem. I'm OK...

Thanks,
wily
