[CAP vs DMT ] Michael

>>Neither TXN or USR are placing their bets on either CAP or DMT exclusively. AMTX could position themselves as the premier ADSL technology company rather than the proud standard holder. Pride can sometimes be blind hubris.<<

Why would Amati want to associate itself with an inferior product?

If you were Mercedes Benz would you sell a YUGO for the same price?

If an ADSL modem runs $250.00 then a CAP modem is worth $0.50

I see CAP finding nich markets, most likely areas where new copper is being installed, or where lines have been painfully ($$$$) conditioned , if CAP can succeed at all.

The coin has flipped, and DMT chips are due anytime now. DMT is the standard. Even if the Ad Hoc committee succeeds in getting CAP added to the ANSI standard, a standard is still one year away, and I see no hope of it ever making it into the ETSI standard. Proprietary hardware is out, Standards are the norm in a World Playing Field.

I don't intend on buying a $60,000. Yugo.
