thx for the post, flats. re: 4Qtr avoidance: interesting stuff. especially in light of the fact that if each and every brokerage house "backroom" is not certifiably Y2K compliant by oct 15, acc'd to SEC directive, they are to inform clients and move them to one that is. the only problem is: none of the brokerage houses are certifiably compliant yet. what makes them think they will be by oct 15?

also if this avoidance translates into money withdrawal and not just debit balance entries or money left on account, that could trigger a second bank run. yes i am fully expecting and preparing for the prior bank run -- in august.
