ken, have u called ur local phone company to inquire about dsl service?....although dsl is not available in my neighborhood yet,i looked into this and they apparently charge by the speed of service.....they quoted me a rate of $65/month for 512K download/upload....so the quotes u stated seem very high to me.....but it did cost 300-400 dollars to get set up with purchase of the modem and installation fee. mact
