<Personally, I'm happy to know that someone is thinking about how to manage a severe disruption of public infrastructure. It makes me feel a lot better than believing that they were simply ignoring the possibility.>

Personally, I'd be happier if they said they wanted to "ensure that the community AND base's water supply is not interrupted if computers fail ... not just the base.

"For example, as part of its Year 2000 consequence-management efforts, Wennergren said a Navy base might bring in water tankers shortly before year's end to ensure that the base's water supply is not interrupted if computers fail - But perception management would dictate against such a move 'because people outside [the base] would want to do the same thing,' Wennergren said."

Ron - I don't post this stuff to frighten people. I just want people to wake up and make preps cause it's a real problem. If Navy's taking precautions ... if businesses are taking precautions ... individuals should be able to do same without being laughed at.

Am curious to see how May 25 senate hearing on personal & community preparation & contingency planning will pan out. Also curious to see how govt's gonna handle those Y2K Town Hall meetings on preparation & contingency planning ... across U.S. (beginning early June).

Sure wish I was in D.C. May 25th for the hearing. Instead I'll be up here in Oregon gardening:-)

Time will tell.

Cheryl
