I too have no fear of horse pucky, so long as it isn't too gooey. There was a stable near here, and a friend with a pickup (obviously a nice guy) would come with me and let me shovel the back of his truck full from the pucky pile. I would then load it into a big compost bin I built. After four weeks of cooking it would stop smelling. After six months, once the earthworms were done with it, it smelled and felt even better than commercial potting soil. Spouse called me Mr. Dung Beetle when I was out turning the goodies in the bin. I haven't got the hang of rolling a big ball of it around with my feet. Harder than it looks on the nature films.
