Yeah, there may be a lot of surprises like that. Business Week had a not-so-pleasant article in the May 10 issue on Y2K. It basically said no one really knows how bad it might be but that a lot of companies are becoming increasingly fearful. One guy said that testing is like peeling an onion--the more layers you pull back the more you cry.

My own experience is that my supervisor's main concern is to get the Y2K 'auditors' in the company off of his back. He is less concerned with the accuracy of the testing. I suspect that is a widespread attitude and will result in insufficient testing. No one likes to think about it but it's going to arrive whether we are ready or not.
My hope is that the areas that aren't ready won't cause havoc for the rest of us (ie electricity, water, telecommunications, healthcare). The fear alone should produce some more buying opportunities IMO. Ted
