We live in a rodeo town too. But the yuppies are only now discovering it- there are a lot of real cowboys left here. Yesterday I took the kids out for breakfast and there was a table of cowboys behind us (they did not look like those guys in the Malboro adds). They were old cowboys and they were talking about the upcoming rodeo and about all the young guys who would be coming. They talked about accidents, trucks and horses- in that order.

When its rodeo time our town swells up with the floating rodeo circuit cowboys. They even have a special rodeo for the special ed kids- we get invited to that because of Pat. It's called the L'il Pardners Rodeo. They have a whole afternoon of events and a luncheon just for the special ed kids- they get to ride a horse and rope and sit on a pretend bull- and each kid gets a cowboy hat and a bandana. The Rodeo guys all volunteer their time and their horses for the event. The announcers for the rodeo volunteer their time too and during some event each child gets to hear his or her name over the loudspeaker. I like the L'il Pardners Rodeo better than the real one now.
