Late on the subject of the Y2K issue. I spoke to an analyst who presented an interesting perspective where Y2k is concerned. The country most prepared is this one. The strongest economy remains this one. Foreign investors have far more reason to be concerned about their Y2K problem than we do. Therefore it is possible in fact probable we will see foreign monies flood into this country as the new century approaches. Where will that money go?
If into Bonds you will see interest rates drop and securities become very attractive. A different perspective. I also had reason to visit with a former Government executive and he pointed out that in many computers a default code is 9999. Well does this mean we may have an early warning on Sept 9th 1999? I for one look forward to 9/10/99 and 1/2/2000. Then we can get past the hype!
