Hello Hiram:
I never got back to you on your questions regarding CAMP's 2-way MMDS system. I noticed you are very enthusiastic abpout CAMP's turn-around prospects. Are you aware of a competing 2-way MMDS system developed by Spike Technologies? You can visit them at:
spke.com
Credit for reminding me of this company actually belongs to transmission on the BBFW thread, undoubtedly the best informed MMDS poster on SI.
Also, in case you are not fully aware of it, the 2-way LMDS systems developed by Nortel, Lucent and Bosch Telecom all use sectorization (Lucent's system was developed by HP and uses 4 sectors) but they have not yet pushed sectorization as far as they could, since sectorization is much easier to accomplish at higher frequencies.
Also, I am wondering if you would care to articulate your optimism for CAMP? I am aware of the Videotron order and the WCOM and FON purchases of MMDS spectrum. Is there, so to speak, a bullet proof case in favor of the one to two years prospects for this company? Another factor I would like to place on your radar screen is that Bosch Telecom's partner is CSCO, and CSCO purchased last year Clarity Wireless, a smart antenna company which developed technology allowing the replacement of line of sight (LOS) for MMDS by virtual LOS through space/time signal processing techniques. In other words, the LOS beam is implemented virtually by combining multipath signals.
In other words, I agree with your assessment that turnaround prospects for MMDS equipment vendors are excellent, but why CAMP specifically?
Best regards,
