Good main board:

For Pentium II/III:

Asus P2B-F (4 DIMM slots, 5 PCI, 2 ISA) Good stability. A little higher in the cost department, but I'm quite pleased so far.

AOpen AX6BC (3 DIMM slots, 5 PCI, 2 ISA) Once again it has excellent stability, costs less than the ASUS and is the regular board we use.

I wish I could expand more on it, but there's no real need. They're both stable, and high performance.

If you're looking for overclocking boards (not recommended), check out Abit.

For a box, I am a HUGE fan of the AOpen HX-08 Full tower ATX with 300 watt power supply. Cost about $85 US and is a breeze to work with.
