Howard, It would work better if I gave you the right symbols. RGL- is the symbol for the Royce Preferred I like.

When I bought these two, they were the same yield. Now the Royce fund is yielding about .7 more than the Gabelli, and I don't know why. I think RGL- is the best value.

Others in the same area include: GAM-,GCV-,GGT-,RVT-, Roy- and Ty-. If you like Gabelli, both GCV- and GGT- are now yielding more than GAB-. When I bought GAB-, it was yielding more. These are all excellent funds, but Tricontinental and General American yield less than Gabelli and Royce. The Royce funds are well-known small cap value funds, and they seem to finally be getting their turn in the barrel.

If I were you, I'd call both organizations and ask for the latest quarterly reports on all 6. See which makes you feel warm and fuzzy. Gabelli is at 800 422-3554 and Royce is at 800 221-4268. I like the Royce funds because I had a very good experience with the convertible bond, not preferred, on RVT a few years back.
