REM55. Excellent recap. The explanation of how smartcards will work with EMBASSY I found absolutely fascinating. All of the research I have read indicates that smartcards will be ubiquitous within 5 years. Of course Atmel and Wave will begin shipments Q1 2000 with Sun on board via Wave and Microsoft on board via Atmel.

"How does smartcard technology affect us? Smartcards are point solutions for specific services...everyone (the financial institutions)wants their own brand. EMBASSY emulates each card on its platform and allows one to choose or switch between services at home."

As for Global Wave, what I understand is that although Global Wave is 75% owned by ITG, Wave still has the opportunity to offer services to PC's in Europe and Wave will also get 25% of revenues through services offered through Global Wave. In essence ITG is a distribution partner through Global Wave, though they will only service those customers with whom they have an ISP relationship. Am I correct?

Regards,

Sophie
