Walter,

The elimination of a buffer memory may be useful if file sizes remain manageable, but currently files sizes for demanding memory applications where write speed is essential may be limited to digital cameras where uncompressed 2 megapixel files may reach 4 or 5 megabytes (digital photography = large file size and rapid write cycles).

I am not certain if buffer memory is essential for other platforms.

Also, the microdrive is not a flash memory product so the applications you mention for MicroOS do not appear to apply.
