Jon and jihm<g>, If we start getting 8mb installed in homes or offices in quantity, then the bottleneck will return/be even worse at the edge, in the central office. Can you imagine trying to squeeze all of that info for all of those modems through the dslams being installed? It can't be done! You'll have riots! And worse, you won't get your MTV. It would also start lighting up a lot of dark fiber in the backbone rather quickly.
