Larry - Lesson 1.

Free of charge.

Remember a few posts back I mentioned inter-generational
platform stability
as a differentiator between consumer
and corporate needs?

Here is evidence:

... Platform stability gave Dell its edge, said Bill Peterson, the company's director of product marketing for the OptiPlex desktop line."In the corporate world, the lack of stability can be a major frustation," Peterson said. "They want to be able to buy essentially the same machine as they did a quarter or a year ago. We work to deliver that level of stability."

This seems to fly in the face of your conventional wisdom that
everyone rushes in like lemmings to buy the latest CPU speed
bump and this time they aren't going to be suckered
.

Now Larry, for your homework, I'd like you to write in 100 words
or less why in the world a corporation would want to be able
to buy "the same machine as they did a quarter or a year ago."

I'll give you a hint: They aren't referring to a system that
doesn't crash and they don't really want to buy exactly
the same machine as previously.
