College Students Protest War in Kosovo

PALO ALTO, CA - Students at Stanford University have begun staging a series of protests against the U.S. Military campaign in Yugoslavia. These protests are the first large scale anti-war demonstrations at Stanford since the 1960's. Students are blocking access to the Administration building while chanting anti-war slogans and singing anti-war tunes written by John Lennon.

An estimated 3,000 students dressed in bell bottoms and tie-dye t-shirts participated in yesterday's protests and more are expected throughout the remainder of the week. "My father taught me to love peace and to loathe the military ," said protest coordinator Chelsea Clinton. "We want to let Americans know that we need to solve our conflicts with words instead of weapons. Basically all we are saying is give peace a chance."

The protests appear to have had no affect on the NATO bombing campaign.
