Hi Sav, nice to see some else posting out here.
My remark re: home networking was from the 1/26/99 conf call. Management had been alluding to new r&d efforts: a quote ======================== we are selling chips into telephony today and telephony is strongly connected to cordless phones, and cordless phones are by far the fastest growing section in telephony…you can expand if you have these technologies of rf and baseband with wireless to whatever you want to do, and you can integrate these things onto one chip. this was the main reason for hiring the group of people and for other things you might expect to materialize in the near future. we are opening much better marketing potential in new areas that are complimentary and with the same customer base. ========================= After which, an analyst was trying to pin them down with what area he was talking about and he suggested 'cell phones, home?' and dspg replied that it was 'home'.
I guess I did throw the term 'networking' in. But what else could be the point of all this wireless/dsp tech in a home? Sure, appliances, but if their wireless they'll probably talk to each other..
But we never know what the products are until they ship, as a rule. right?
If management is staying consistent with it's basically conservative public stance I think it has said a lot.
Yeah, I'm a bit excited. I'm in @~20, and when it was down below 15, I thought I was optimistic hoping to get my money back by July. But now, with visibillity improving, I'm seeing a longer hold period on the horizon.
I agree with your points on the conf call - my favorite was the 'could be tens of millions' remark.
I think resistance at 25 will be key. If it breaks above there, I'd bet on a short squeeze for a few bucks and then who knows? back to 18? mostly kidding, but NOT ENTIRELY!!
