Thanks all for replying,..WillP, I think your standard deviations are calculated from the averages? What I'm wondering is,.. did the company publish the SD's for the averages of the individual squares? For instance K11 had 14 intersections yielding an average of 1042 (+0.3mm,-1.18mm) diamonds, but they don't specify a SD. Some intersections could have none,...others many. Without the SD we don't know the variability of diamond grade in the square itself.

Most of the other squares have few intersections so SD's are a waste of time,... but K11, J11, I11 have enough, and a variability measurement would shed some light on my question.

Some squares may have thinning dyke widths, with great variability in grade making them uneconomic to mine, especially at depth. MRDI will take this into account, but who wants to wait?
