Pfizer, Bristol-Myers Among Kolbert's Top Picks, Barron's Says

Bloomberg News

New York, May 16 (Bloomberg) -- Pfizer Inc., Bristol-Myers
Squibb Co., Eli Lilly and Co. and Merck & Co. are among the drug
stocks favored by Salomon Smith Barney Inc.'s David Kolbert,
Barron's says. Kolbert, who said drug shares are undervalued and
represent a buying opportunity, said the industry's fundamentals
remain strong as advancements in the field of biotechnology and a
graying U.S. population spur sales. Companies such as Viagra
maker Pfizer Inc. and Propecia maker Merck have been advertising
directly to consumers, encouraging them to ask physicians for the
drugs directly, Kolbert told Barron's.

New York-based Pfizer was sued earlier this month for more
than $100 million by two companies seeking to bar the fourth-
largest drugmaker from using the name Trovan to market a popular
antibiotic.
