a little update... siemens wants to continue working with coms, just not buying them... also points out that several int'l cos. are rumored to be interested...

Siemens says has no plans to buy 3-Com
MUNICH, May 17 (Reuters) - German industrial group Siemens AG (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: SIEG.F) has no plans to buy its U.S. partner 3-Com (Nasdaq:COMS - news), Siemens chief executive officer Heinrich von Pierer said on Monday.

''We don't want to buy 3-Com, rather we want to continue our cooperation with them,'' von Pierer said at a news conference.

Recent media reports said several international companies were interested in taking over 3-Com.

Von Pierer also said that Siemens planned to sell off all shares in its semiconductor division in the long term.
