Mr. Branisteanu: I got a nice grin out of your response, but I wasn't trying to explain "inflation." Just trying to correct a misconception among some people (not necessarily you) that median home price figures sometimes don't really mean very much.

In some areas of the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S., homes are selling quickly and demand is outpacing suppply, yet home prices have risen relatively little. This is difficult to explain, particularly when buyers appear to have more money than ever to spend, most of which probably comes from stock market gains in recent years. In fact, the only prices that seem to be going up in my community are at the gas pump.
