MD and Gerstner could share the title of co-CEO with MD running the PC side of things. MD would be heir apparent to take over as CEO after Gerstner decides he has had enough. I don't know, but seems that MD would not mind running BIG BLUE one day. Even if it meant that he was not running a company named after himself. MD has never struck me as selfish, but I would not be surprised if the deal kept the DELL name on PCS and servers, perhaps co-branded IBM/DELL.

And to answer a previous post, "why would MD do this?" Well, how bout doubling your net worth and that of your shareholders. Seems tempting.

Even if this never happens, it offers intriguing speculation.
