YOGEN FRUZ TO ADD 500 NEW LOCATIONS IN GERMANY
Yogen Fruz World-Wide Incorporated (TSE: YF.A) a world leader
in the frozen dessert and novelty market, today announced that
it has signed an agreement for development and master franchise
with Sonnenhof Nahrungsmittel G.m.b.H. to open 500 locations in
Germany during the next three years. Yogen Fruz now has
development and master franchise agreements in more than 80
countries.
Sonnenhof Nahrungsmittel G.m.b.H., one of Germany's leading
wholesale distributors of dry, chilled and frozen food
products, will be responsible for developing the Yogen Fruz
brand throughout the country.
"With the signing of this agreement, Yogen Fruz not only
strengthens its position significantly in Germany, but also
establishes a foundation from which to aggressively pursue
other opportunities in Europe," said Michael Serruya,
Co-President and Co-CEO of Yogen Fruz. "Our international
growth strategy will be solidly advanced through this
agreement."
As of August 31, 1998, Yogen Fruz had approximately 4,900
locations, through company owned, franchised and
non-traditional partnership locations in 82 countries. The
Company operates a Family of Brands including Yogen Fruz, I
Can't Believe It's Yogurt, Bresler's Ice Cream and Premium
Frozen Yogurt, Swensen's Ice Cream, Steve's Ice Cream, Golden
Swirl, Paradise, Ice Cream Churn and Java Coast Fine Coffees.
The Company also directly, and through its subsidiary
Integrated Brands, markets, sells and distributes Tropicana
frozen fruit juice bars and frozen dessert products, as well as
a variety of frozen novelties and frozen dessert products under
the Betty Crocker, Trix, Yoplait, Colombo, Lucky Charms and Yoo
Hoo brand names, pursuant to long-term license agreements.
