Why do you anticipate a possible rate hike in August? You are not alone, of course, but I do not understand the logic.

Rubin, Greenspan and others have repeatedly stated that growth/recovery in both industrialized and underdeveloped nations is the biggest challenge to our own ongoing prosperity. Nothing could be more detrimental to achieving that growth than for the US to raise rates. Why do so many expect us to shoot ourselves in the foot by doing so? Is there some major slowdown in productivity gains around the corner that I am missing? Some say that computer/Internet power is being utilized at only 10% of their potential, and that the potential itself is growing faster than that. Please enlighten me.
