Well, that is the biggest objection, but some of it has been a non- committal attitude that might change if it is perceived that there will be benefits to reap in a reasonable time frame. Also, it is not absolutely necessary that there be democracy, just a legal framework that delineates ownership rights, secures contracts, regulates capital markets and lending to increase confidence, and the like...Plus, if there were greater political stability, and a greater sense of security about one's assets, there would be a larger spontaneous influx of foreign capital... |
