PiMac, interesting, and it is true that there is a continuum between overly particularized and fully abstract thought, and that few people become comfortable with higher- order abstraction. It is also true that abstraction can be misleading if one is not careful to make sure that the concepts have definite enough referents. And the application to moral reasoning is not bad...But everyone past a certain age understands that there are rules and exceptions, and that on the most important rules, like "thou shalt not kill", one had better make an awfully strong case for an exception. Clinton may not be refined, but he is not an imbecile, and should have a less easily swayed conscience...
