the #1 common reason to buy in Kona right now for the mainland buyers is....Y2K. I guess they figure it is better to be in Hawaii eating papaya and banana than turning into an ice cube in Chicago next january. -g- Seriously, the resorts and B&B's jacked their rates last year for Y2K and were booked 100% by last Christmas here...

Oceanfront homes were booking one week rates for next new year at up to 19K per week! Normal would be 6k tops.
