There are some comments on the shareholders meeting on the CTXS thread on Yahoo, post 143. No surprises. The management answered the questions about the recent bond issue by saying that it was for options, possible stock splits or future acquisitions.
I believe that the key underlying factor helping hold down CTXS price is fear over the role of MSFT. Today's WSJ had an informative front page article on the Microsoft trial. The parties may be edging toward a settlement ,the judge thinks MSFT is guilty of non competitive practices but doesn't want drastic solutions. The government will insist on provisions to allow rival technologies to work well with the Windows technology. The tactics of blocking competition by adding new capabilities to Windows at no charge (as they did to Netscape) are at the heart of the government case. These tactics have been proved by the evidence and MSFT will have to at least modify this approach to settle. IMHO, settling is best for MSFT, since none of the probable penalties of a settlement are a real threat to the company. To allow a judge to decide opens the possibility of something far worse.
What this means for CTXS is that MSFT will not be in any kind of position to offer many of CTXS capabilities for free. In other words, they will not be able to do to CTXS what they did to Netscape. Personally, even without the DOJ litigation I think success of CTXS is good for MSFT, who may need CTXS more than CTXS needs MSFT.
