In some ways it's the same issue, yes, but imho there are two recent settlements that are more directly comparable - the Windy Craggy/Kemess settlement with Royal Oak, and the TFLs 39/44 settlement with MacMillan Bloedel just a few weeks ago [to which there is a reference in MB's latest financials on CNW, i believe] .... last night I had bunch of references to the MB pulled up on dogpile when my magic box broke down, i was searching with <+"TFL 44" +"Macmillan Bloedel">, i think ..... there's a lot of opposition to the trading of Crown land for the stolen rights, a Hubert Beyer column pretty much sums up the oldtime CCF position. So any settlement would be cash, imho.

There was a clear seizure of value from Rock.
There's an election coming up.
The NDP did make a deal with MB - i take from that the impression that they'd like to clear the deck of some of these festering sores.
But you have to remember - they're the NDP.
