Hi Mike,

I'm not convinced that a rebel victory, and free democratic elections would be a bad thing for the people of Zaire. It seems that they have been ruled by a dictatorial rogue for 30 years, who has systematically looted the riches of the country for his personal gain. Stabilization in the country would seem to be the best thing for the people and for the investment community. I actually think a rebel victory would be to everyones advantage, providing it leads to a duly elected government that remains friendly to outside interests. It seems reasonable to assume that if they do win the country they will need all the help they can get including having as many mines operating as possible. If they do otherwise they will surely lose the support of the wordwide mining, financial, and investment community. This would seem to be true for whoever wins. The rebel leader and his advisors are certainly no dummies. I just hope he truly wants a democratic government and doesn't turn into another tyrant.

Sorry, didn't mean to write a letter.

just another lurker breaking cover...

Keith
