If they were really prepared to bomb Serbia into the Stone Age,

What makes you think they aren't?

What are the primary elements that separate us from the stone age? Electricity -- we have cut that off for most of the country several times. Oil -- we have bombed most of their oil storage facilities and pipelines, and are trying our best to destroy entirely their oil infrastructure. Transportation -- we have bombed virtually all their significant bridges, have bombed many of their airfields. Commuications -- we doing our damndest to knock their TV and radio off the air. We have even threatened TV stations in Bosnia with the loss of their right to transmit if they don't transmit US approved stories about the war. (See recent WSJ article.) Seems to me we're doing the best we can to bomb the country right out of the 20th century. Maybe not all the way back to the stone age, but as far back as we can.
