Neal, that was an interesting report, but one has to wonder why they used a 384 kb/s variant of ADSL against a 27Mb/s cable modem platform. I would question this in evaluating the usefulness of the test. Although, in giving this Keysnote consultancy their due, I think that they did a good job in mitigating the level of noise in their results, by the steps and the considerations they outlined in their methodology.
But getting back to my one point of objection, there are also 1.5 Mb/s ADSL services, as well as any assortment from 2 to 8 Mb/s, and up, as well, not to mention the VDSL version which will come down to cable TV packaging price points over time, operating at 52 Mb/s.
Be that as it may, even if we were to agree to go with a 1.0 Mb/s version to keep it real for now, that is still three times (although, not altogether linearly effective, but ) faster than the the 384 pipe. Just my two cells, and probably dropping some packets here along the way, as I type...
