Yes, there is some of that in there. One thought that crosses my mind, and this could be applied to either model, is what happens to the capacity during dead periods? This may seem like a no brainer, and one would think that the carrier would simply accept that fact, but it isn't.

Carriers need to optimize revenue generating potential across every last potential bit of carrying power they have. Or at least attempt to do so. That is the primary reason for their being.

So, what do carriers and MSOs do to leverage idle time capacity? Any ideas?
