Automated Backup

Second Copy is appealing to me at first look. If my read is correct one could clone (using Drive Image or other) a harddrive...preferably to an identical physical drive...and then use Second Copy to keep the drives identical. The 'mirror delay' is user selectable. It also looks like you can set up a complete sync every night and also hourly (or other time interval) backups of selected directories.

The synchronization option makes it of interest to me. The program matches the directories..including deleting files that you have deleted on the primary drive. This seems like delayed mirroring to me. Also of interest...the file names are not altered unless one selects a zip compression...AND one can opt to maintain older versions of a file.

In addition one could do a selected file/directory back up to removable media...All for thirty bucks!

From one of the reviews

Second Copy 97, by Centered Systems, available from centered.com. (Home page.) Second Copy 97 has my vote for the best modern what-you-really-need backup program, because it's super-smart and superbly easy to set up. You can use it as I do—to back up your entire file system, folder by folder, or you can use it just to make backups of selected folders—ones you can't afford to lose. You can have Second Copy 97 keep backup copies of files that have been changed or deleted, too, so that you have your backups AND you have backups of previous versions of your files. (And it will keep MANY previous versions, if you like.) Set it to run every day while
you're away at the office. ($30.)
