Ok, I admit to a little porking myself. In the same
shipment I bought 6 CD-RWs at 2.95 and a Maxtor 20GB
drive (7200 rpm) retail kit for 295.00. I bet
I get a $30 rebate on it, somehow. I'll also
bet we settled on the same CDRW media<g>. Out of
curiosity, I ordered a 3-pack for 9.95 and 3 singles
for 2.95 each, just to see if they are the same,
though the description read slightly differently.
S&H was only 12.xx for the lot, though. Shipping I quoted
(11-something) was for the CD-RW alone.
Yes, exactly as you did, I have been watching this
drive go from 238 to 338 to 228 at buy.com, bargain watching.
Got clued in from the bargainwatch url (can't remember it --
age hath its toll) a couple of weeks ago, then watched
it bounce and finally couldn't resist when it bounced back
down.
Your S&H was the case, no doubt. I refuse to buy from
Diamond (no use taking a stand if you give it up
easily) so wasn't tempted. I'd only give it up for
big money <gg>. I already have an ultraplex
Plextor in the machine I put the Yamaha in. Speaking
of warped minds! I didn't notice it as a particular
bargain lately, though; maybe I should have got another.
Anyhow, I am extremely pleased with the Yamaha. Thank
you, Sean, great recommendation!
I will report progress, plus and minus (if any), as well as
automation attempts. The latter will probably be delayed owing
to W**K, unfortunately. It's cruel hard expecting a lazy
man actually to earn his keep. It's even worse when you
expect it of yourself <ug>. I can't even decide at whom I'm most
PO'd ...
