Mt. St. Helen's Volcano: Seen From The Air

The contours are simple curves, the colors
Nothing out of the ordinary.
Simple star names--Big Dipper, the Ox;
I see the shape of lips calling out
But their soliloquy falls short of my ears.

After the eruption--a clear day;
The beauty of detachment from desire
As Mt. St. Helen's sits in solitude,
Clean and nude--not the speck of a building upon her--
For all the gods to see.

How I long to leap down from the plane
And sit shoulder-to-shoulder with you all morning long.
