Scumbria - <So why on earth is Intel slashing prices and profits every week, just to regain the tiny low margin market share they lost to AMD?> Because this is business Scumbria. Not a collaborative effort between the two companies, but competition. It is folly for Intel to sit back and let AMD take marketshare, when Intel has competitive products that turn a decent profit in response. Scumbria, AMD's pricing tactics have every bit to do with AMD's predicament, undercutting their competition by 25%. If that's the way AMD wants to play, it would be naive of them to not expect Intel to meet the competition with a response. Charles and kapkan4, this goes to your argument also. All of your arguments that smack of "Why doesn't Intel just leave AMD alone" are crazy. AMD has stated it is in head to head competition with Intel. Intel has the duty and the right to respond. Ceding market share is ludicrous, unless there is not a profitable response. In this case there most certainly is, despite Scumbrialand mythology that states otherwise. Also, regarding the price slashing: part of this is to make way for the P3P. PB
