Here are the two press releases from Fall '96 about Java. I will ask the company myself about the progress since then:
Sept. 19, 1996 Celtic announces discovery of breccia pipes at Kebasen, Central Java
CALGARY, September 19 /CNW/ - Celtic Minerals Ltd. (CME.ASE) is pleased to announce that its Indonesian exploration team has discovered breccia pipes at two separate locations at the Kebasen Property in Central Java. This project is a joint venture with the Indonesian State Mining Company (ANTAM) of which Celtic is operator and can earn a 70% interest.
The two discoveries were made at the Wonosari and Ijo areas, approximately 8 kms apart, during detailed geological mapping surveys initiated in late August. The two zones consist of structurally controlled siliceous breccia bodies 15 meters and 23 meters wide within argillic and propylitic alteration zones approximately 500 meters in size. Chip channel sampling at 1 and 2 meter intervals across the gossanous outcrops have returned assay results that are highly anomalous in mercury, arsenic and antimony. Twelve of 23 samples taken at Ijo achieved mercury levels greater than 1 part per million.
Celtic's Senior Geologist Mario and team leader is extremely encouraged by these early results as they indicate the presence of breccia pipes which have the potential to host gold grades similar to those found at Acupan, Phillipines and Cripple Creek Colorado. The highly anomalous mercury, arsenic and antimony values within siliceous breccia alteration are a characteristic feature of the upper levels of an epithermal gold system.
Celtic's exploration team is performing detailed geological mapping and prospecting within a 10 kilometer long target (edge identified by the ANTAM geologists as the probable source of boulders that contain gold grades up to 8.2 grams per tonne. This work will outline the full extent of the breccia zones for follow-up channel sampling and trenching.
Management is extremely encouraged by these early results and is looking forward to continued rapid progression of the program and additional discoveries.
Sept. 10, 1996 Celtic initiates Java exploration
CALGARY, September 10 /CNW/ - Celtic Minerals Ltd. (CME.ASE) is pleased to announce that all permits have been obtained and geological crews are in place to begin exploration on Celtic's Java projects. Systematic exploration of the company's priority Kebasen property has already commenced. This property is joint ventured directly with the Indonesian State Mining Company (ANTAM), whereby the operator, Celtic, can earn a 70% project interest.
Highlights of the Kebasen property include gold in streams on both sides of a 10 kilometer long target ridge, geology and structural features similar to that of the Pongkor deposit, and gold from boulders. Previous exploration results by ANTAM Geologists include gold in outcrop and boulders in stream drainages assaying 1.2 to 8.2 grams per tonne. ANTAM's reconnaissance team has already delineated hard rock gold prospects on the property.
An estimated 5,000 alluvial gold miners have recently begun working streams in the general area around Kebasen. Last April, when Celtic first reviewed the area's prospects, this local activity had not yet begun.
Celtic's first phase Kebasen program will include detailed prospecting and mapping, together with chip sampling of mineralized outcrop exposures within the 10 kilometre target ridge. Celtic management anticipates quick advancement of the Kebasen project to the drill stage. |
