Y.. the move to outsourcing applications to be run remotely is certainly a trend.. I believe it has brought on by the inefficiency of in-house IT departments and inability of readily migrating applications into the in-house system infrastructure ...these two issues result in the most failure of new applications.... SO, we are (are we?) returning full circle to service bureaus (circa 1960/70)... Lots of reasons to think so...

Also, think about the cost of Y2K that was borne by companies, IF these systems had been outsourced think of the time, money and hassle that could have been saved... more reason to go outsource.

As more firms outsource more "non-core" items, the outsourcing of more and more IT and application management makes more and more sense...it is likely that ORCL will participate in this trend.
